Hi all, new member here after migrating from the cpl site that i had just joined. I have just got this stove cheaply from the auction site here in NZ, I cannot find any information on it anywhere, the only info I have found is that the Glynwinna name was also on blowlamps although it is doubted if they actually manufactured them. This stove is in pretty poor condition, it has no pump washer fitted and what looks like a lot of home soldering on various parts. I cannot find any other marks or date codes on the stove, does anybody have any other information on it? Thanks in advance. John
Geeves suggestion is sound. Reminds me of my Thermidor (Samuel Heath & Sons, Birmingham UK), 1939 date.
Hi, welcome to CCS. You have been gives good advice. Your stove is British-made and the distinctive filler cap/ safety pressure release valve was used by both SH&S and Monitor : Losing pressure from the centre of Monitor fuel filler cap Best Regards, Kerophile.
The styling of the embossed inscriptions certainly looks very reminiscent of the early Parkinson Monitor's, so that may be a clue. But the "British Made Throughout" legend was used by several smaller manufacturers in the immediate aftermath of WW1; 1919/1920 in particular (see this advert for example, not that there is any evidence that that particular manufacturer ever offered embossed tank stoves).
Thank you for all of your replies, the stove does seem most similar to the 1920-1930's Monitor that Presscall posted in the stove reference gallery. The cast iron trivet that came with this stove was complete although in three pieces unfortunately. Once I've cleaned the stove up I'll come back with any other markings that I find. Cheers John
Hi @JPH. Monitor seems to have introduced the filler cap with built-in SRV in the 1930s, initially as an optional extra. Your version is probably later as it is a combined SRV and screwed air-release, mounted on a filler-cap. Best Regards, Kerophile.
