On acquiring this Radius No.43 kerosene/paraffin roarer, areas of the case were in such a corroded state, both inside and out, that in order to save it, there was no option other than to strip the case back to bare metal (which had fortunately not perforated). Following corrosion removal, heat resistant filler was then applied and sanded down to bring the case back to a condition whereby it could then be resprayed. Unfortunately, no photos of this process are to hand. Twin carry handles and the ‘push-in to open’ catch on the front of the case. Hole for the control key. The opening in the upper and lower parts of the rear of the case is to allow the fuel supply pipe to slot into, when the case is opened. Radius, mounted one end of the pot support spring (the other end attaching to the right-hand lateral pot support arm) on this partially stamped out ‘tab’ in this lower section of the case. The (pre-1938) Radius ‘Shooting Star’ is stamped on the underside of the case. However, the tank is stamped with the (post-1938) ‘Radius Ltd’. Therefore, this No.43 was manufactured after 1938. Case closure… The heat-shield is placed in this position just prior to closing the lid. As viewed - the heat-shield’s right-hand cut-out straddles the fuel supply pipe when the heat-shield slotted into place. Pre-heat. A sheet of 430 grade (0.9mm) stainless steel is fitted below the burner to act as a heat deflector. Simmer. Pharael.
@Pharael A superb job of the case and entire stove, the finish looks great and yet not over restored, the brass work looks great yet not over over polished like new,the look to me is a stove that has been used many times, yet has been cared and looked after well done there
@mr optimus - Thank you for your very kind comments. It’s been quite a few years since I restored this 43 and have used it quite a bit since. Just a pity I can’t locate the restoration photos. That case was a corker! Pharael.

Every time, I have issues closing my cases. Will have to try moving the heat shield like you show and see if that helps, likely just the pot supports not folding well. Duane
