SIGG Scout Pots (/aluminum scout kettles) I credit member alanwenker for majority of what i share below. Without evidence I tend to think that, initially, all 5 sizes were not offered. Same thought with matching plates, not offered initially. A tidbit re Early: credit Hazet in pic that looks like scout pot with pan/lid, if so, it shows scout pots offered along side fairly early storm cookers and Bordes (early 60s?, late 50s?). source Borde/sigg combo? ------------------- I'll share 3 early SIGG Scout Pots I have in-hand: The SIGG 16 and 18 and here is stamping on bail handles (it is same on the 20) Side notes re the 16: a complete Svea 123 and SIGG pot gripper can nest inside and my SIGG 16, original strap, says " RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT SEATTLE " -------------------- The SIGG 20 The pan/lids are unmarked. The bottom and bail handle are stamped SIGG in early text (shown above). The bottom stamp with circles on each side, the left side has number in the circle (16, 18 & 20). Here is 16 as example
here we see the whole set, all of the above, nested into the SIGG20 but wait what's that on top?... those are 4 deep plates (8" / 205mm dia.), ea. There are matching deep plates (ie size 16, 18, 20), please note the bottom of these (same as pots) are stamped SIGG in early text. The bottom stamp with circles on each side, the left side has number in the circle (16, 18 & 20), the same as on the pots. Here are examples of the matching deep plates in sizes 16, 18 & 20. the bottom of these (same as pots) are stamped SIGG in early text. The bottom stamp with circles on each side, the left side has number in the circle (16, 18 & 20), the same as on the pots. The 16 & 18 (of the 3 above) happen to be later versions with later SIGG text (block letters).

At some point began painted bail handles (ie an olive drab not often seen). A tidbit about later versions: along with later text (block letters) "I think" the grey bail handle was late and in use 'til the end. source
I would say that Colin Fletcher’s The Complete Walker was the cause of a great many Sigg scout kettle (and Svea 123!) sales, as they were part of his kit. An 8R will also nest in the small size. I don’t remember ever seeing the strap though. I bought the two smaller sizes from REI in 1973. Still have them, but now I typically use either GSI hard anodized or Stanley stainless cookware. Basil

I also picked up a (SIGG-made?), EIGER 22scout pot. EXACT match to the SIGG 22 scout pot except, the only marking on the EIGER is on the bottom, stamped only "EIGER Switzerland" did VERY close inspection/comparison with SIGG22 scout pot... exact same.
