Well I fired up the li'l stove today. Loaded it up with meths and put a match to it and away it went. Not sure things behaved as they should, you may be able to see in the pics the meths boiling out around the base of the burner and spilling over the top of the tank. Still, it boiled enough water for a cuppa in 8 minutes, but used most of the tank full of meths to do it.

You should use a wind shield outside , these stoves are for use indoors & the wind shield will improve the performance out doors no end Stu
Thanks for the tips guys. I was expecting more of a blue flame instead of a big wafty yellow thing. To be fair there wasn't much of a breeze either. The most worrying part of it was the fluid boiling out of the tank and sizzling away on top of it.
