Hi gooduns,

I have got myself a few stoves now and I am reaching the point where I have some that need bits and bobs that are missing from them

I was just wondering if anyone knows the best categories on eBay to look in for stove parts 8-[
Ya seem to find them all over the blooming shop

I know Basecamp have everything I need but I'm hoping to get things on the cheap

There is no particular category on Ebay.

Just Google Primus, but its all over the shop, as you say.

If its a fixed leg stove, that you are looking for parts for, just get a complete one as cheap as possible, when you consider the cost for a Non return valve £11, from certain places, its cheaper to buy a stove and strip it.

I also suggest you also buy British stoves, you can still get them relatively cheap at the moment, but prices are going up and up all the time.

My trouble, I want to get the stoves that are missing parts running too. I've succeeded there too.

Yeah I agree, seems like a shame to use a stove for parts why not get more parts to fix the stove and bring yet another one back from the brink

Even if I could make one stove out of two I probably would want to make a good one from the bits left

 

I've acquired a few 96 lipstick vaporizers, then found stoves later that were missing them and got lucky that the parts fit correctly because I understand there is some variation between years. Legs found from our sponsor Basecamp, and A&H.

Ron, I guess I only have 3 96's, a Optimus, one Primus and a Primus Pocket. I need a 20 but those sell for a good price, they are just a bigger 96. I cover a lot of bases. With those MSR Everest stoves added to my count, I have more MSR stoves than Optimus stoves now. I don't care for those blue gassies, but have a few alcohol stoves of various types. I'll have to break out a few of my other treasures later this Spring. Maybe next weekend my latest rare find. 2012 is starting like my great 2011 collecting year, but I'm winding down now. As long as Sam doesn't post a stove report on anything else, he costs me money, I'll be ok. Income tax refunds have been received and my bonus is payable next week. Looking good financially.

LOL! This whole forum costs me fortune! I've captured a few more MSRs and some early Coleman black boxes. Can't wait to see your treasures Duane.

As for parts places, I think everyone has mentioned a lot of good sources, many of which I use frequently. The trading post is a good place if you are looking for something that parts suppliers don't have but CCS members may have. I've been able to get some of the parts that way. I've had dealings with probably a couple of dozen folks that have good parts. Great people on this list!

Sometimes, you won't find the part you are looking for and may have to manufacture your own. I've done a couple of makes on small things, like flame spreaders: My First Flame Spreader and others.
