Hello! I decided to go back to the roots and bought something made in Sweden. Quite heavily exploited Optimus No.1S with a recess in the spirit bowl. Burner cap missing... Luckily, after borrowing a silent burner from a no name stove, I managed to start the Swede without any repairs. Does anyone know the production years? The work is not finished yet.
Hi @Tomek Your Optimus stove appears to be Pre-1930 on the basis of: From this thread : Optimus No. 0 mid-late 1920s Beat Regards, Kerophile.
I'd say 1925-1929. The stamp on the front panel is the later Optimus one, after 1925 or so (more languages, indicating increased markets). The central riser tube is of the simple screw-on/then soldered in place type (no external step reinforcement of that joint, as you find after about 1930, but a female thread in the riser tube screwed onto a male one rising from the tank, visible only if you break the joint and remove the riser tube). Primus started reinforcing and strengthening that joint around 1925 on their 1s and 5s (not the cheaper Jr and Sr models). Probably because people often wound up inadvertently unscrewing the riser tube when trying to replace the burner. Optimus tended to copy the Primus models closely, so I'd say 1925-1929 is as near as one could guess.
