Finally made a 'reliable and safe' conversion from the old rubber tube, to a braided tube with an EN417 tap - so I can run it on cartridges if I choose to. A new lease of life, I feel (the stove, not me!). Braided connectors come from China via ebay. Have been using them on other projects in recent years and have found them to be reliable. The blue adapter is from an EN417 lantern extension, also available on ebay. Cut this and put a thread onto the 10mm tube - thread size 10 x 1.0mm. Seems to fit the Titan female thread well enough. Gas grade PTFE tape makes sure the fit is gas tight.
Different mod on my other Titan. Better for packing. Full details of tap thread on fettling forum. OK it's 7mm x 0.75mm with 6mm drill into original hose end piece.
Thank you Sammonsmx for the ideal of using the EN417 braided hose from ebay. I was given my Tilley Titan last year. It was in need of some love so I cleaned it up and painted the rusting case. It came with the connector for use on larger bottles but because I will only use it occasionally I like the idea of being able to use canister gas with it. I bought an EN417 braided hose and an adapter for using the EN417 with the cheap and readily available aerosol type canisters. I turned up an adaptor to go between the Titan and the EN417 hose. Adapter has PTFE tape to seal the threads on the Titan end and an o-ring to seal the EN417 end. The screw thread on the Titan is 3/8” 28tpi, and I believe it is slightly tapered. The thread on the particular EN417 hose I bought is 7/16 x 28 tpi UNEF which is the same as the thread on the aerosol type canisters. I am pleased and impressed with how well the stove performs with this setup.
Did you make the adapter or buy it somewhere. As I'd be very interested in help for either. I'm wanting to convert my Tilley twosome to the smaller camping gas.
I bought the EN417 hose and the adaptor to connect the hose to the aerosol type gas canisters from Aliexpress. I made the adapter that goes between the hose and Titan.
