Don't know if it's just me, but I'm tired of retrieving my Nova's flame plate from the bottom of its stuff sack or worse, digging around for it when its sprung loose and ended up on the ground.

I've tried bending the retaining tabs to grip more securely but after losing it for good I decided that I didn't want another Optimus component but something better.

Answer was a Primus Omnifuel flame plate that's a spare in the Omnifuel spares kit

It fits really well and once the 3rd lug is tucked behind the burner shield, it's a keeper

Gamble that combustion would be ok, but needn't have worried. This stove's already a 'bitsa', matched up to a Primus pump and fuel bottle in a project I posted in the 'Frankies, Mods and Hybrids' forum

Primed with meths, it flames up as well as it ever did, on full power ...

... and a really useful simmer that reminds me of the flame pattern on a Phoebus 725 on simmer

    Seems to work fine.

My only comment or suggestion is don't make the flame plate over tight. As my stock flame plate was loose and I kept tightening the tabs. And eventually it started to warp the burner bell. So you definitely want some play in the burner plate tabs. But as you mentioned enough so it doesn't fall out.

Look more closely, Camshaft, the Primus flame plate tabs are pushing against the stainless steel burner casing, so there's actually no grip exerted on the burner bowl and no distortion in prospect when it reaches red heat.

    John,

Looks like it was made for it. Nice! I like how it was the correct height automatically. I like the Primus flameplate better too any appreciable difference in the noise between the two plates?

No discernible difference in volume of sound, John, so I'd say it's a workable alternative.
