bought a local well used Apex for $25.00 with the stainless pans & two bottles. Upon getting it home, I saw the fuel hose was loose, since they are factory crimped & I don't think available anymore I decided to replace it myself.

I cut off the brass ferrules with a dremel got the fittings out & went to my only local supplier for steel braided hose. because of the type of fitting on the delivery end, squared off with spring fitting, I couldn't get a regular ferrule on it, I used instead these stainless collars that fit over then used some nail pliers to crimp them tight on the sides.

I made the hose twice as long as the very short original. (pictures for comparison.).

The replacement hose is a larger outside diameter & almost too stiff but it works well & should last another a good long while.

Do the pan sets come along very often? I have two of these stoves but would love a pan set for one, I shall have to start searching the Bay of Evil in the USA for one!

    Morning, Si,

The pot sets that most of us have were made by Sigg, and it's actually called the Sigg Tourist kit, just like the ones made for the SVEA 123, but with a very different windscreen setup, which worked with the Coleman Model 400 stove, and later the Apex I & II. It was originally sold with both stainless steel pots, or aluminum, at the buyers choice.

Here are the two sets, side by side, stainless on the left, aluminum on the right:

From the top, note how one needed to be "fitted" a bit, by filing small notches in the flanges of the windscreen. Easily done.

Here's a close-up shot of the notches I filed into those flanges.

By the way, the pot sets do come with a regular Sigg lid, I just didn't show it back when I took these photos, a few years ago. The windscreens, or the entire set of pots and windscreen, do come up on 'the Bay, now and then, but not regularly. If you are patient, though, I'm sure one will come to hand for you, and they work very well, indeed. Worth the wait, IMHO. One caveat about using these, though: They are so close to the regulating knob, that you "can" burn your fingers a bit in use, if you are not careful. Don't ask me how I know, as I'm "almost" ALWAYS very careful!!  ;) ;)  [-X [-X   Good luck, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

Thanks Doc, I'm bidding on a stainless steal Peak1 set ATM. It's just the wind screen I need. We don't have them on this side of the pond. I have seen them for sale on Evil Bay USA :) So If one doesn't turn up in the next month I'll have to bite the bullet and pay the shipping.
Thanks for the stove and cook set shots, I like it when things that are shown to be together are. I'm a bit retentive I guess  .

    Hey, Si,

Sounds like you are already on the right track. If you end up needing help from this side of the pond, with gathering, or shipping, please let me know, and I'll be happy to do what I can.

Here's another shot of my setup, this time without the pot. This one if a bit more clear.

By the way, this setup works very well, indeed, in the wind, and way up high, even in cold, snowy weather. The windscreen is a great design, and matched with the Coleman stove, is a wonderful combination! Good luck, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
