Well my no 70 came. Now I am really confused. I thought maybe it was a 71 in a 70 tin. The tin says no 70 and you will just have to believe me that the stove says no70, made in Sweden, Primus Trade-mark and petrol. There is no stamp on the bottom of the tank.

I think maybe somebody put a different fount on this 70 as it has a valve? The jet is a thread in type (just more info).

I will look at the gallery, but I thought the no 70 all had the coffe cup type handle on them.

Anyway.. what are your thoughts? What should I do? Thanks very much in advance!!

    I get the impression of a 71 in a 70's box...

Do you have the flame plate?

I don't have the flame plate. The tank is clearly marked no 70.

There are others on CCS with greater knowledge of the 70/71 than me, but I seem to recall a post that stated that the last '70s' had the control spindle and no handle. These were later renamed the '71'.

I'm sure someone will be along who can shed greater light :) .

I have a set just like the one linked, a primus 71E (wind shield and pot) the stove is a 70 with control spindle.

It came with burner bell, but missing the flame spreader. BTW it is a lot cleaner now than in this pic.

Thanks for the link and answers! Mine does not have the "safety spike" maybe it is a little older??

I have sent a pm to Magnus. He is in Stockholm too. Maybe I can get him to look at it.

    Thanks again.

Magnus Thilander? I'm sure he lost his interest in stoves etc. some years back so it would be interesting if you got a reply...

    Hi Angus,
It seems you have the transitional model 70 which most likely was limited production.
When these stoves get to full operating temperature and build up pressure they really crank so having the control spindle for flame adjustment would seem like a good thing. What are your concerns?

My concerns were mainly that I thought it had the wrong fount screwed in. Now I am sure it is correct. The 71 fount is different shaped.
The only other concern is that it doesn't have any safety if the pressure gets too high. At least that I can see. I am getting some parts together and then I will try it out.

    Thanks again Ray.
