I have a newly acquired 199 that I recently purchased. When I received it, it did not work. Having rebuilt a 111T I tore it apart, cleaned it and then reassembled it. After a quick warm up it, develops a nice blue flame and appears to be burning as it should when compared to the 111T. However it makes a buzzing sound which is outside my small realm of experience. I am using kerosene and currently the cleaning needle is not installed. Any ideas as to the cause of the of the buzzing?

I really don't know. I don't want to be a nuisance, but have you tried pricking it? :content:

It has only been burned twice since I put it back together. Can the jet foul that quickly?

Hi, try putting the burner caps from your 111t on it. It that works you will know where the problem is.

The noise is probably the flame burning under or between the caps. Causes:-
    Too little pressure
    Mismatching caps
    Inner cap missing
    Carbon on caps
Lighting when spirit cup still burning.

You have a great stove, don't give up.

Yes, easily - I've you've cr&p in the fuel tank it only takes around 10 nanoseconds for a piece of that to block a jet.

But it sounds like underburn to me, too - as per the previous post...

199's don't run on kero, they use Coleman fuel.

Murph, Murph, Murph, 199s have 4-tube kero burners a la 111Ts. The 99 is a Coleman burner.

111T burners will work on all three fuels. If it was purchased here in the US, I'd wager it's set up for CF. With no integral pump. You'd have to pressurize the fount with a external mini pump to burn kero, I would think.

It has the same burner set up as a 111T and came with a mini pump.
