I've wondered if one of mine had the factory rivet for the clip, or was attached by a previous owner. But then another stove doesn't have it, very confusing. Nice clean models you have. The old 8's sure vary. I've asked Alexander what the coating was on those early 8's, he did not know. Also, not sure the fat fuel line was before the 8F's or a 8F. The 8's are all still pretty neat anyway. Duane
Sweet!!! Is there a wick in one, and not in the other? I seem to remember reading that the fuel line from the bottom of the tank did not have a wick. I only have (1) 8, and I really like them. 8R just isn't the same. Ken in NC
Picture 13 - shows the right hand tank burner assembly, with a hexagon nut - you don't say which 8 this is from Steel or Aluminium - does the other tank have the same ? And yes, the rivet is original.

Which is a later model made for the French market. Note the difference of the heat shield and the feed tube. The earlier one is brazed in place. The later model is threaded but almost looks brazed. Both have wicks. There should be a rivit in the lid. The clip holds a pricker and a wrench/key. Note that the 8r would later be modified since it didn't need to hold a pricker

Hi Folks, There is no wick in the earlier ones which have the feed brazed into the very bottom of the tank (the left one in the above pics) I'm sure its possible with a pair of shaped forceps though..... Alec.
Mine had a old wick. I removed it with the optimus hook tool. I did try it without a wick but it pulsed. So installed a new one and 5 minutes later no pulse. It's also a little safer to have a wick in these kind of stoves. Stop any potential flame into the tank
