Hi all Just a few of thanks you's to people who enabled me to get this stove up and running. My lovely son Jamie who came with me to collect it, my local chappie at the lawnmower place, who braised a pin whole in the burner head for me, Mike at Base Camp for the flame ring, last and not least, who makes most of my stoves come to life with his heat resistant washers is Kerophile. Well, what can I say, it is a large 7 pint stove, not sure of the date, it came with 5 other stoves, 2 of them Primus's, dated AT and AV, so I am guessing that this Op 3, is round about the same age. The stove on the right is the Op 3, the other one is a Primus 3, and the small one at the front is a Primus 0. The small stove to the left is an Op 1s, for size comparison.
Hi Ian, Lovely presentation of your Optimus 3 superscript 1. I believe that your stove is much more recent than you susupect, and dates from post-1962, and the formation of the Primus Trading Co. I haven't seen reference to the superscript markings before this, and the combined filler cap/airscrew is a later development on these Primus/Optimus stoves. Your Optimus 3.1 seems to be identical to my Primus 3.1, apart from the branding: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/9046 Your Primus No.3 is also relatively "recent", IMO, as that slotted filler cap was used by Primus in the late 1950s/early 1960a You should make a Post on the Reference Gallery of this Primus 3.....to keep mine company! Aren't these wonderful stoves? The grand-daddies of the Primus/Optimus families! Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hi Kerophile You are not alone in the gallery anymore. I would have put more pictures on but I have had a crap day. Best wishes Ian
I have an Optimus No.5 superscript 1. Does the superscript signify anything in particular? Bump to a post from 2015.
