Regulatable Optimus 00 with 207 burner

OMC is right!

207 burner has more complicated structure than normal roarer burner so I was wondering that maybe it will not become empty from fuel when cooking is over and tank pressure is released. I was thinking that a cap would prevent fuel to spill around during the transportation. Weather was not so nice during the weekend so I put lathe running :



Cap mount thread is short so cap will not form lead gasket. Nitrile gasket makes cap fuel tight.
From work shop I found serrating roll tool for lathe so I made serrations to the cap to enhance grip. 8-[

True Odd, no change to utilize Scotty. Santa would be one possibility but we would need to wait one more week. Post would be slightly faster and when Santa comes you can brew a coffee for him with new set up.

Pictures cannot be uploaded with better resolution so parts just look good. I don't have shining paste to polish the parts on lathe so marks from turning are visible on surfaces.

I was not able to resist temptation so I needed to test how 207 burner fits with the riser to Optimus 45 (burner is under maintenance so spindle and packing nut are not on their places):




Looks that it works also with Optimus 45 .

 

Well, I received the parts kit from Finland today - and started fitting a 207 to my 00 as soon as I got home...

It's an extremely well manufactured kit and it was an easy thing to fit it. The only thing I had to do was adapt a large diameter pre-heater cup (or rather: I'd call it a tray) from some other stove I had in the parts bin. Had to enlarge the center hole so it would accept the 207 threaded end. When this was done, the rest was just like a walk in the park... I know you all want to see fire so here's a couple of pictures I took when it was all put together:

With a fill of a 1/4 liter of kerosene this new Optimus 00R seemed to burn forever. I took some measurements with the IR thermometer and the side of the tank (by the pump) were at 45-50C after 20+ minutes and the air pocket bulb (by the riser) were at 70-75C - so I think the SRV fill lid is a bit of an overkill but better safe than sorry. One metre away from the stove the sound meter registered 70dB while I was doing the brew test. (With the stove shut down the meter read 52dB.) So, a QUIET and ADJUSTABLE Optimus 00R was the end result!

I'm so satisfied with this little project!

Nice to see that the riser seems to work. Excellent wind shield and spirit cup! Where you got that spirit cup? I have been looking for a similar spirit cup but I haven't found suitable candidate yet.

I didn't had sound meter but with my ears I got feeling that it's quite quiet and specially with half power or less noise level was very low.

Maybe I need to make some kind of setup to de-coke my adjustable Primus burners that I can take Optimus 00R for weekend hikes.

 

Wow! Very cool, the 00 is a cracking stove. This makes it very sophisticated

 

I think it's intended for an Optimus 10R...

I been thinking the same thing lately about silent regulated burners fitting nicely on a 00 because there seems to be so many burners being offered that look like they'd fit.

Glad you guys have the parts to do this because it paves the way for me to try it with my little 00 someday.

Maybe just for testing I'll try to use un-regulated silent burner since with pressure on tank it is easy to control the flame size/power.

@Odd, what is the origin of the windscreen on your silent Op00? It looks like just the thing for my current Op207 burner project. I like the larger spirit cup a great deal, but that windscreen would be just the thing for use aboard the boat.
