    You gotta love having a brother who is a collector of all manner of old things but stoves aint one of them!

    He rings me from a VW swap meet in Sydney...
    "I found you one of those three legged stoves you like. The guy had two other flat ones. I didn't know if you wanted them all but did a deal and got all three cheap anyway!"

    The "three legged one" is an early Radius. I'm not sure of its age or the model? Appears to be missing a burner ring but otherwise complete.

    One of the "flat" ones is a Primus 523. The AS date stamp makes it a 1953 build. The burner controls are a bit skew-whiff and it has some dings in the tank but again it looks complete. I'm sure the body wasn't always rust coloured. Will have to check the SRG for clues when I get around to fettling it - fun times ahead!

    Finally the other "flat one"...
    No markings, possibly a steel tank, squarish profiled spirit cups, silver painted body and looks like pale green enamel under the pan rings...

    It does have Primus regulated burners that I'm guessing are 1950's vintage. Any ideas anyone?

    Hi, if the tank of the Radius No.1? tripod stove is marked "Radius" rather than the later Radius Ltd. it is pre 1939.

    The characteristic Radius fabricated pan holder is a transition form, between cast-iron designs and one-piece steel pressed pan-holders, and likely dates from the 1930s.

    Here is a similar one on one of my Radius stoves:

    https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/radius-5s-or-pre-1930s.11654/

    Radius made classy stoves from 1913 to 1963. You are lucky to have acquired one.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    I wager the last "flat one" is an Aladdin.
    Nice score, all of them.

    @kerophile

    I couldn't find the "Ltd" abbreviation after the Radius name anywhere? The markings came up with very gentle rub with some 0000 steel wool.
    So 1930's. Any way to home in on a closer date?

    The top of the burner is 28mm across and the stove is a No.1 Sr. Does that help me identify the flame ring it is needing?

    @Christer Carlsson
    Aladdin! Thanks! I'll look up some details.

    My brother meets all of the key criteria...
    1. He always going to junk shops, car swap meets, gun shows, etc. where there is lots of interesting stuff for sale!
    2. He loves a bargain!
    3. He's an impulse buyer!
    4. He has a good memory if you show him something!
    5. He's generous!
    6. And most importantly! - He is not into stoves!

    That is a really nice, early Radius.
    I will study more later, but the first thing I notice is that the auto-lighter is upside down.

    This is Australia - many things are upside down here...

    I've read lots of good things about these Radius stoves. I started off with one Primus No.5. That was six months ago. Then the Optimus 8rs came along. This Radius makes it ten stoves. If I stay focused on Swedish stuff that should help limit scope creep to some extent...

    Oh dear, you have no hope now, I'm afraid. Your comment signifies that you are beyond help.

    @Funfundfunfzig wish I had a brother with such a keen eye. I'm afraid that @Tony Press is correct in his diagnosis of stove pox though.

    Please look here for flame ring dimensions courtesy of @kerophile for the second time tonight.

    Regards
    John

    I see some Colemans in your future
    They will start with a Solus which is a proud British brand but was sold in USA as Coleman Solus then the Solus will be forgotten and a 3m will mysteriously appear in your possession.
    Then you will have 40 stoves

    If you have to sell any sell the biggest one first (its probably the one youve owned longest and wont fit in a backpack)

    Thanks John
    Had that burner size measured up wrong! 38mm across the top and 44mm wide at the rim that's 16mm down from the top. I think that makes it a standard No.1.

    I see a small and a large ring are available on an eBay site that had a lot of stove items. I'm guessing this would be the small one?

    @geeves
    Sell a stove?!! Soap and water Sir!!!!

    If it comes to poverty and hitting the road- good news ! Don't worry about what stove fits in a backpack, that must be why I see the old gents pushing shopping carts, so they can bring more of their stoves and fettling parts. :content::content:

    I agree that at 60 stoves you're not a "stove collector". At that level of sheer excess I think the more appropriate term is "stove hoarder"!
    At my present trajectory I'll be there by June 2018! Aghhh!!!

    Greetings,

    I have a Coleman Solus, USA. It has the clawed feet. Do you know when they were manufactured? Thanks!

    The ones with the feet are US made (Some Solus are Canadian).
    If it has a roarer burner it's a model 531; with a silent burner, it's a model 532.

    We like to see photos. You can post one by using the 'Upload a File' button at the bottom of the post.

    Welcome to CCS. You have a nice stove. A number of us are Solus fans.

    Cool stoves. I often find them at VW or other type of car shows.

    Did he get any cool VW parts? :)
