Optimus 111T question

Im getting a Optimus 111t and was just wondering how one changes out the tube to burn alcohol in it? Thanks for the info

 

Is it a silent or roarer? Whoops...just saw the T in the post....you will need to find a restrictor tube that goes under the inner burner cap and a correct sized jet/nipple for alcohol. Check the fettlebox or Basecamp for the bits.

Do some stove come with two tubes? I dont have the stove in hand yet. The picture the person set me has a little tube in a zip lock bag . Im assuming that's the change out tube so I can use alcohol.

 

that should be what you are looking for...then see if there is a jet in the same bag.

 

You'll need a alcohol jet, the restrictor fits over the jet, but I've never used my "T" with alcohol.

Thanks for that info. The pictures the person sent me only shows a little bag with one tube. Im hoping the other tube and A tip is in it. If not hope i can find a replacement.

 

Alcohol jets are still available.
Failing that, a worn standard jet can be bored out to alcohol-size. A member near to you may be able to offer that service.

Only one tube should be necessary.
Hope the jet(s) are in the bag with the tube.

 

Got the stove! Its all there and complete. Looks to be unfired as well.

Hearty congratulations on scoring that very nice 111T! One of the most versatile and excellent stoves out there, IMHO! As to restrictors, Optimus have offered several different ones for the 111T, and some work better than others. In my experience with such things, I found the one that, for me, worked perfectly, not only in the 111T, but also in the 199, too. I wrote a piece on the various restrictors I have seen, quite a long time ago, but maybe it might be of use to you in your own hunt for a good restrictor for you "T". Here is my article:

Please note that the type "C" restrictor that I mention in that thread can be found in SVEA M1915 burners that have come out of Homestrand Mariner stoves, that have been setup for burning either kerosene, or (with a jet change, and the type "C" restrictor added) Meths (Marine Grade Alcohol). FYI, the dubbing of the SVEA retrictor as a type "C" is my own name for it, solely for keeping things straight between the various offerings. The actual number, from Homestrand of that restrictor, is: #15393. These restrictors were used the the aforementioned, SVEA M1915 burner and in all my testing, this is the only restrictor that does not "lift away" from the burner during hard use. It also works great with the Optimus burner that your "T" has, and with the 199, as well. I will post more info on that later. Right now, it's time to get ready for church!
