Paraffin = kerosene Lighter fuel = white gas So, the preheater runs on white gas and the stove itself on kerosene. I believe that "lighter fuel" can be different things in different parts of the world, though.

The Annby stove has a rapid igniter but is is fed from the main tank of this kerosene powered stove. The rapid igniter receives fuel and compressed air from the main tank. It produces a jet of atomised fuel/air which when lit burns like a blowlamp flame aimed at the main burner for a minute or so to pre-heat this burner. The Captain B 201 is slightly different. It has a small dedicated fuel tank with its own small pump and rapid igniter aimed at the main burner. This small tank is pressurised to ignite and run the rapid igniter. This pre-heats the main burner while the main fuel tank is pressurised using the main pump, and the main burner lit in turn. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Mine only has a screw type of control vale on the pre-heater. I don't even know how to fill it up lighting fluid because I can't find a way to open the little fuel container.
I believe that you have to fill the little container with Butane and use it to warm up your main burnner. They have Piezo Ignitor for the Captain B301 as well. It is very cool. However, you can always use alcohol if you are in a pinch.
Hi @Vince.S you could well be correct. I do not have a Captain stove so have no direct knowledge of the fuel used for the pre-heater. Ross has a BRO 202 from the same manufacturer and says: “Comes with one piece silent cap & roarer burner plate for the adjustable burner. The spiritcup can be used conventionally but includes a lighter-gas powered pre-heater with piezo ignition which slots into the vented spiritcup for easy priming - very neat!” From this thread: Captain BRO-202 Best Regards, Kerophile.
