Found this yesterday in a Cornish junk shop it has Primus stamped control knobs. It’s going to be a project!
Great find, should clean up good, parts are there. Every one I have gotten needed to be repainted. One survived a hurricane. Duane
@Etherman Hi, a trite confused, it looks as if someone replaced a beat up 22b with a new 22b, or has a magic wand in their fettle box. Without either, what a HELL of a GOOD Fettle. Optimust.
@Optimust Thank you! Originally it was missing the latch clip, i wasn't satisfied with the homemade latch clip I had made and was fortunate to find a cheap 111 case only to swap a factory made clip.
@BigScott it will be going for an electric swim for sure! @Etherman very nice job on that 22B what paint did you use by the way? I am away from home at the moment so I am having to be patient.
@Etherman. It is said, if you search you shall find, so keep on searching & shareing your finds with us all. Best regards too you. Optimust.
@nmp , Nick, Great find on that beat up Primus 22B! I know you can get it looking brand new, once you get back home, and get the time to make it happen!! I look forward to seeing it once you've done your magic on it!! @Etherman , You, too, got yourself a great, old, and well beaten up 22B! And, the job that you did in fettling it back to life, and making it a beauty once again, was brilliant!! I showed Sweet Bride your "before" photo, and she said, "Man, someone really treated that poor stove like crap!! I hope the new owner is going to fettle it up to look like new, again". Then, I showed her the "after photos, and she was, literally, gobsmacked!! Very impressive work, and congrats on getting it back into excellent working condition, and beautiful to behold!! Thanks for sharing, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc (and Sweet Bride [who loves cooking on 22B's and 22's!])
@nmp The paint I used was from this thread posted by @CW that i purchased here My last 22 project I took an Optimus 8R to an automotive paint shop to get some duplicate paint made up in a rattle can in this post This pic shows a comparison of the VHTSp403 on top and the color match on bottom against the 8R original paint. @Optimust @Doc Mark Thank you for the compliments, I can see why the 22 is considered a favorite, multitasking coffee with a cooking task makes these classy two burners very satisfying!
Very nice. I added some brass sheeting strips under my burners on my early version. I had a paint store make up paint for mine, unfortunately it softens when the stove is used, even 6 years later now. Duane
@z1ulike Ben oh ye of little faith! Runs like a champ! Very noisy! But controllable. I am not so convinced as yet about the durability of the VHT paint and lacquer the meths is the problem if spilt.
Hi @nmp some wicks in the spirit cups will lessen the risk of meths spillage and makes for more efficient priming: Making up some spirit-cup wicks. Best Regards, Kerophile.
