Hello! I bought something like this - all made of sheet metal. photo attached. It came with a Juvel brand grate (the kind used in kerosene brass stoves), but I couldn't find any information or photos. I'm also wondering if some part of the flame shielding tube is missing, as the grate is quite high from the burner. I would appreciate any help with this. regards Zorki
It’s a kerosene wick stove, equipped with a tubular wick. I can’t tell you what brand of stove yours is, but the pattern is quite common. Yes, the chimney’s missing. This component.
Dear Prescal! Becouse i can’t find that, build my own. With three metal parts - looks nice, don’t you think? Ther is only one problem flame after few minutes of burning starts to dance. Is it becouse inner parts have no holes? thank you!
At the moment you’ve created a chimney of sorts, but the outlet hole’s too small and the hot (exhaust) gases aren’t escaping well enough, so the flame dances as you say. However, those concentric inner cylinders with the perforations are essential. They create the blue flames and the heat. Without them you have just a kerosene lamp without a glass chimney to allow the light out!
Thank you for answer. I make it using my intuition, not knowledge. Are two inner cylinders have holes on the top, or gases and heat going out from the biggest cylinder? Which makes heat have longer way to get out?
@Zorki Those components are completely perforated. That’s right, the circular wick sits between the two inner cylinders.
