I just received this silent damper cap from South Korea. It looks very well made, but the external flange means it is to large to fit my original xgk and my xgk2. If I turn the external flange until it fits, is that all I need to do? Does it sit in the burner bell by gravity, or is the flame spreader the thing to hold it in? The thing will fit the chuck of an electric drill, and I have some new files, so I am all ready for some precision machining...

Hello @xgk81. I have an XGK-EX that snugs up on my BD cap after it has gotten a heat cycle. When the burner bell expands the cap settles in a little deeper in most cases if not you can tap it lightly while it is running. Any way I personally would "make it fit" but not too loosely and see if it locks in good after a heat cycle. Just be sure you don't remove too much.
I have carefully turned down the outer flange, and now have it fitted to my xgk2. i can't get it to burn [properly, getting instead a constant flare. No blue flame in a nice ring. I have tapped it carefully to make sure it is fully seated around the jet, and I have run the adjustment screw through the full range. I have burned it for half an hour to make sure it heats up.No Go. What have I got wrong?
Generally it needs to sit deep enough for at least the flames from bottom row of holes to hit the burner bowl, to provide thermal feedback. But that may not be a problem on a xgk11 as it has a generator tube. Is the flame heating the generator tube enough?
Here is a shot of it just now. That is as good as it gets after half an hour. Plenty hot, and a good hiss, indicating good pressure. The damper sits well down in the burner bell, and snugs up with heat very well. it is removable when it cools down. The stove works normally, but will not work with the damper. Is it sitting too low?
Thanks everyone. Looks like I have the wrong version based on the last link by snwcmpr. Mine is for sale cheap, at least until I acquire a stove that it fits! This one fits a dragonfly.
I ordered the xgk version, but it looks like they sent me the dragonfly model. Time to check my order to see where the error is.

Hi. I bought one of these for my XGK EX a couple years ago, but it did not fit. Just sits in there loose and unstable, stove never burns right. Any thoughts? Thanks
I don't know why it won't let me post the pic you posted. Says something like spam warning even though it's a link to this site.
