hi all long time collector of lamps stoves ect but my first post on this web site, i just bought this stove as it looked unusual, i have been collecting restoring lamps stoves for over 30 years but have never seen one like this before, i have included some pics of it as found, thanks for any help and allowing me to join the group Damien melb australia
Looks like a plumbers furnace that could heat a lead pot, or, with the hood on; be used to heat soldering coppers,
Yes. In the Stove Reference Library there is a post for the 1951 Sievert catalogue of blow lamps furnaces etc and one entry, the Sievert 590 Furnace looks very similar. The text suggests that model replaced the E9, I don't have a clue as to whether that was a similar design, but the text suggests the 590 must have been quite new in 1951. One of your pictures shows the top of the apparatus with the word TYPE cast in it, there is then a raised cast plate/cartouche below that which might have a model number stamped into it maybe?
@Firestarter @x359 "Just your imagination, running away with you" - you need to resist the Temptations! Now that I found a model number and have put the picture in enlargement, I too can see 590, now we know what it looks like. So that settles it, a Sievert 590 Furnace, which was being made in the early 1950's, and maybe later, too.
Welcome, @x359. I have one posted here: Sievert 590/290 If you become a subscriber you can see it in the catalogue here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/sievert-catalogue-no-262-1951.51845/ Cheers Tony
