Looks like a plumbers furnace that could heat a lead pot, or, with the hood on; be used to heat soldering coppers,

Yes. In the Stove Reference Library there is a post for the 1951 Sievert catalogue of blow lamps furnaces etc and one entry, the Sievert 590 Furnace looks very similar. The text suggests that model replaced the E9, I don't have a clue as to whether that was a similar design, but the text suggests the 590 must have been quite new in 1951.
One of your pictures shows the top of the apparatus with the word TYPE cast in it, there is then a raised cast plate/cartouche below that which might have a model number stamped into it maybe?

Maybe it's my imagination but I think I can make out 590 on the plate Dean mentioned.

"Just your imagination, running away with you" - you need to resist the Temptations!
Now that I found a model number and have put the picture in enlargement, I too can see 590, now we know what it looks like.
So that settles it, a Sievert 590 Furnace, which was being made in the early 1950's, and maybe later, too.

Great detective work @Dean . Looks like a useful bit of kit, with that handy regulator valve...
