Can anyone hazard a guess at the period(s) that these two different roarer burners were fitted to stoves?

    Example 1.

    Hi @Tony Press,
From observation of my own stoves, I would say that the one cast "OPTIMUS" is likely pre-1939, as I have similar markings on all of my 00 Patent models, which date from the early-mid 1930's as far as I know, as well as on my pot bellied OP 45 of similar era.
I don't have personal knowledge of the "OPTIMUS SWEDEN" model, but rather thought that it was much later, i.e. 1970s - 80s, following on from the OPTIMUS PRIMUS ones that came about with the take over of Primus stoves and the formation of PTC up until 1970's and the take over of Svea. I have a vague recall of reading something on those lines by KAW500RED, something like Dating Op 00 timeline.
The patent 00s of the 1930s I have all have the dimpled spirit cup, if your burners are still assembled.

    @Tony Press,
interesting. good question! thx for posting.
Just checkin: Would we presume yours are both 2 pinter / No.1 size?

Nine years ago you joined a handful of us in discussion on topic here Optimus Roarers
Some revelations were uncovered (credit SMolson to get me/it started. miss him).
A caution too, it might be best not to combine the No.00 & No. 1 size examples (as we did).

Your examples 1 & 2 are also shown in that thread.
Although post linked above was enlightening at that time, NOTE: that discussion had not yet drawn conclusions re sequence. [[ For me in-general, i typically attempt to sequence examples and later attempt year ranges ]]
    Today to answer your question:
    Q. "Can anyone hazard a guess at the period(s) that these two different roarer burners were fitted to stoves?"
    A. I dunno (although i have considered it and revisited the topic).
Hobby time is in short supply but i will follow with interest. thx again

    1. @kerophile

I would expect that Optimus and Primus both used the old Russian Cyrillic around the same time. My conclusion would be that the “Example 1” above is the older, beginning sometime, and ending in the 1930s.

The “Example 2” is later, but when is my wondering.

    2. @OMC.

The stove is a rare Optimus Gloria. It came with the wrecked “Example 2” burner. Hence my curiosity about getting a tag on the date range for these two types of burners. The Example 1 burner came unattached to a stove.

    Cheers

    Tony

Primus still had full cyrillic markings in 1937 but I think it would be unappropriate after 1947.
Optimus went to marking burners "Optimus-Primus" after 1962 and "Sweden-Sweden" after 1969 - so I think Optimus in latin and arabic would be 1940's to early 60's.
