@james charles bennett there are some good quality NRV tools occasionally available on Ebay.com from specialist sellers in South Korea, Japan & Taiwan (eg simonchantwus). Search for 'lamp stove check valve wrench', do not expect to be cheap. But beware Chinese copies which in many cases do not cater for Primus type NRVs. Also beware that even the best tools cannot be guaranteed to shift the worst case stuck NRVs, especially if the heads are already damaged from previous failed extraction attempts. To give the best chance always soak with penetrating fluid first, and then fill tank with boiling water immediately before using the tool. @kerophile's original post at the beginning of this thread gives the main advice you need. Sometimes however radical surgery, extracting the whole pump from the stove, has to be resorted to as a last resort. Good luck
