Hi all, another visit to the reclamation yard threw up this unmarked collapsible roarer. It does look like it’s had a hard life - note the rounded off nut on the burner and also someone’s had a crack at the NRV which needs to come out - it’s got rounded off corners Nothing on the trivet either, just the ‘Paraffin Only’ legend on the fount. Also no safety valve… and no markings on the tin. Came with some vintage Primus prickers and a bespoke spanner … any ideas ? Chris
Have a gander here Chris, there are several threads on variants of these. Badge engineering at play! A good save either way, the more of these which appear the more likely answers may come...
A Falk Stadelmann product seems to be a pretty compelling conclusion, but in THIS post on the example I have … … I pointed out the near-identical burner and priming cup construction match with those of a known Monitor stove, the Major. Major stove and burner/priming cup (2nd photo) on the right. John
Thank you guys - as always a superb and comprehensive answer. That also explains the NRV issue - two corners have been rounded off and it does look bigger than normal. Hmmm could be a poser as that pip needs removing! It does fire up though but pressure is soon lost. I did incidentally leave three more stoves behind - all 2 pinters - a 1959 Primus, a Veritas and an SH&S. All £20 a pop. On the plus side I did get a lovely Governor blow lamp… If anyone is near East Yorks and wants to know where they’re all located I’d be happy to point you in the right direction! C
