    Hi all;

    I have 2 Svea 123, a difference between them is it appears to me that the size of the penta socket on the fuel cap is larger on one than the other. Both SRV have been wrenched, or tried to be wrenched, to my eye- a bit of use shows. Not perhaps enough to change the sie of the larger one though.... of course someone may have changed fuel caps on one of them.

    I am very new to these forums, although I have been reading up on a few topics for a couple of months.

    Is there a post I missed that talks about changes to 123's over time that I can review to help age these guys?

    Thank you;

    Brian.

    Welcome to CCS. I am a 123 and 123R regular user, but myself do not have the arcane knowledge you seek. But many here do and will doubtless tune in shortly. These are great classics indeed.

    @Toomanyhandles

    You are right about the problem with judging age of the stove from fuel caps.

    But, if you can post some good pictures of the stove's details, there are some knowledgeable eagle-eyed folks here that can chime in on an approximate age range. I am not one of them.

    welcome !

    good chance you're aware of much of my comment:
    above ed makes mention of 123 & 123R.
    so a couple qualifiers, to provide detail(s), we/you will want to confirm you are asking re model
    Svea 123 (vs 123R)
    (and that both tanks say "SVEA")

    in any case pics can be the most effective way to express questions/answers.

    in this case, imo, pics of two caps are necessary.

    Fair warning there is only one size penta socket on Svea filler caps.
    (some later caps have hex socket which may be smaller? those may be 123R caps as well?)
    ------------------------

    re OP older vs newer (earlier vs later)
    The earliest and early versions of Svea 123 are Sievert Svea 123s (penta socket in use for some of these, w. "Sievert" on filler caps btw).

    Optimus took over production offering their later versions of same model, very much the same.

    Own several SVEArs, a Sievert 123, an Optimus 8r. What size pentagon bit do I need to get for the tanks caps, please.
