Following my recent report on my cranky Optimus 111c, I promised myself a) to get my 111c running on kero, b) get a 111t and c) get an old-school 111 kero. Well last weekend I managed to do just that so now I have a 111 kero, 111b, 111t and 111t. Very excited. Pictures to follow if I can get them all working. Can't wait. Got the bug bad
Well done. I too have acquired a full set: 2 111's 1 111B 3 111T's 1 111C Of course this doesn't include the new Nova-based 111 Hiker Plus, but some would say that these aren't truly part of the line and offer no real advantage over a Nova.
Yes, but it still bears the "Hiker" tag. In any case, the Hiker Plus confers no advantage over a regular Nova but is more expensive and weighs a ton more, so I don't see myself buying a Hiker Plus in the near future. If a new one were to show up on eBay for say $80 or so I might change my mind though.
Those serated pot supports look nice though. I might consider a retrofit/upgrade for my 111t if they are the same size. Can anyone with a hiker plus confim that that they are cross compatible? (To a 111t)
What serrated pot supports? Every pic of a Hiker Plus I've seen has the standard 111 pot supports. I thought only the Nova had the swing out serrated ones.
What the F? They changed it since this. Pity, it was one really cool feature. Maybe they had problems with them cracking due to temp extremes. Maybe they just cheaped out. Anyone Know?
Interesting. I've never seen such a close up pic before so I never noticed that. From what I understand though, the black tank green pump and cap ones don't actually exist outside of pictures, and the stoves for sale are all actually green tank with brass caps and pumps.
Something like that. I checked the optimus site and sure enough the serrated supports are not shown on the green tank version.
I wonder if the black tank one was a prototype they made and took stock photos of before the real one was released?
Possibly. I just noticed that on the green tank one, the fuel tube exits the tank higher and further to the right than the black tank one.
There's two I think . A hiker Nova and a Hiker Nova Plus. A&H sent me a sales literature on both. I couldnt figure the difference. Maybe its the extra serrated supports and paint. The case looks like a C case . Handle hole on the left. But I bet the supports fit all the cases. Wait a minute , They may be a different height. but fit in the holes. Really nice picture though.
Ask A&H if they have any of the black tank green knob Hiker stoves in stock or have had them in the past. As far as I know, they only exist in pictures. Regarding the ordinary Nova vs Nova Plus, the difference is that the Nova has the valve at the burner whereas the Nova Plus has the valve at the fuel bottle. The Hiker Plus uses the Nova style (not the Nova Plus style) out of necessity and modifies it slightly to work with the big control knob. The other difference between the Nova and Nova Plus is the configuration of the legs and pot supports, but this is irrelevant to the Nova burner as it exists in the Hiker Plus configuration. As far as I know, there is only one Nova-based "Hiker" model, not two, and it is based on the Nova stove not the Nova Plus, despite being called the "Hiker Plus". To make it even more confusing, the model number they gave it is T-88. These are the facts as I have gleaned them from reading this forum, reading the Optimus site, and emailing eBay sellers who had the black tank model displayed. It's certainly possible I've missed something and I welcome any corrections.
There's two 111 Hikers + on ebay: http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1
If you send an email to the seller of the first stove and ask him what color the tank on the ACTUAL STOVE HE'S SELLING is, I guarantee he will tell you Green. I've been through this with several sellers already. They're just using stock photos from Optimus, not photos of the actual stove up for sale.
Alot of those sellers are just drop shipping those from a few distributors...along with a bunch of other items they don't actually see or have.
