That's great advice, I always set the needle low to the point that fuel will leak out after I closed the valve after I pressurise the tank. Not lit of course. Then I reinstall it again with one less click. Then I know I have full range on the burner.
Hi Litch, The Optimus catalogues spec the 111 as having a boil time of 3-4 minutes for 1 liter of water and the 8R as 6-7 minutes for the same job. Of course these are laboratory results at room temperature conditions. I haven't been able to get anywhere near these results. Today for an experiment I fired up the 111T to see how long it would take to bring a liter of water to a boil. The temperature is -2C with sunny but windy conditions and the water was 8C from my tap. It took double preheats to start the stove. After 15 minutes it still wasn't boiling and I ended the experiment with the water around 90C. Even indoors I can't boil a liter in 6 minutes. I believe my stove runs as it should and I even tried the same test with a Primus 5 and a couple different pots. Your results with 7'45" for an outdoor boil seem more than reasonable for winter conditions. I don't think you have much to be concerned about but let us know how things go. Ray
Thank you all for your input. I must admit that my boil test was a while ago (September) at maybe 18°. I'll try again on the weekend and will let you know. Thx, Peter
I fired it up today and made same flame shots. Because the technical content I'll open a new thread in the Fettling Forum. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/111t-with-problems.31687/#post-321748 Thanks for your help! Peter
