I'm not stupid, Doc, which was why I wrote:- "although I can see the reasoning behind doing all of those things" The 123 ran out of fuel by accident and I mentioned that merely to illustrate just how little fuel needs to be in there for mine to light successfully. Trevor had already kindly told me it was always best to leave some fuel in the tank for the reason you gave and I've also read it many times over the past couple of years... ...and kindly note that I'm 57 next birthday (as I believe you are), so I'm hardly a "young Lad"
Good Morning, David, Hey, just yanking your chain! I wrote what I did because it seemed as if you were saying, "Hey, I know this is the prevailing wisdom, but what the heck, it works just fine doing it this way". And I did note that you had mentioned you could "see the reasoning behind doing all those things". Just thought I'd send along my own two cents, David, and no harm done. We all do that sort of thing everyday, don't we? Friends help friends, even if the help is not needed! As far as being a "young Lad", I'd say you are still one, as am I. We once had a friend, who was 87 years old, and I called him a "Young Lad", now and then, too. And, he considered me to be an absolute youngster!! His line was, "I'LL tell you when you're old"!! He's passed away now, but was one of the most ardent woodsmen that I'd ever met! At 87 he was far "younger" than I was, in spirit and strength of heart!! So, to me, your actual age has little to do with whether you're still a "young Lad" at heart. 8) Again, no harm meant, just messing with you, and offering some advice to a friend, even if he doesn't need it! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc Mark
