hello, I have just become the newest member of the Coleman 502 club. You chaps say good things about them, so i got myself one, with a cookset. The picture below is taken from the E aby ad'. Just have to wait for delivery now... Any idea how to date the little chap ?
Hi Ron, I was just reading your old thread about your 501/502. all good stuff. At the base after model 502 is stamped 65. so 1965 must be the date. Thanks Ron.
Not Dan but a heat drum is a sheet metal affair that clamps down over the top of the 502 and acts kinda like a heater. You should be able to do an eBay search for Coleman heat drum and that outta produce a few results. David
Lanevitt, one 502 does not make a camper of you. Nor will it get you much beyond the door of the club house. Two or more will see you properly furnished for anything from a cookout in the backyard to full on life support halfway to Timbuctoo. Mind you the heat drum gets hotter than hadies on a summer day. keep it away from anything which might catch fire from convection or radiation. lance
Hi Andrew, you'll love that 502. It's very quiet, simple to work on and has a nice even flame. The cooking pot is huge! Big enough for soup for 6!!
Congrats on joining the club. Like Matt said they are very simple to work on indeed. You need to get a 500 so the 502 isn't alone. Cheers, Jeff
My Coleman collection is a bit more than just the 502 thanks..a couple of lamps, a double burner, folding oven, and my little 400 But any donations to add to my coleman corner would be gratefully recieved. 8)
Oh i seeee... I am hoping they include that in the sale...I see a nice few pairs of Y fronts to be made from that material !!!
