    Hi everyone

I was cleaning up my 502. I was a bit unsure what to do about the paint peeling from the fount.
As it was stripped down i decided to remove all of the paint, thinking that if painted again, it would not be as good as when it was new.
I decided to polish the metal and leave it as it is....

Hi Andrew, it looks rather nice, "naked" ;) ! Are you going to use a clear lacquer to protect "her" good looks?

    Regards,

    Wim

Nice one Andrew realy look's good in the buff even though i like to restore to their original condition but then you have to get a real good colour match if your going to repaint my self i whould replace the decal in the past i used to remove them on my lamps so it whould not spoil the polish of the brass. but what ever you decide another superb fettle Andrew as usual well done

I have heard of high heat clear coat on CCS, so i will wait and track some down, Mean time i will keep it under my pillow, so, only the tooth fairy will get to see it until then.

Yours knocks the spots off that Centennial Edition version, Andrew, of which was said:

I'd rate the honest integrity of bare metal to the 'bright silver paint' Trevor spoke of.

I love naked motorcycles and I am really liking the naked 502. The Phoebus 625 is another one that looks great naked.

    Great work Andrew

did anyone ever think about silver plating a font once its cleaned up this well?..just remove the burner and such and cover the openings and put it in a electrolysis bath in a reverse of the method we use to remove rust.i plated some copper plates years ago when i was trying to reproduce a old photo method and i just used hobby kit powered by a old model train transformer.

If you don't mind playing with some fine steel wool and spending time with a buffer, you can make that 502 really shine. Use clearcoat to protect the finish. Much cheaper than plating. Here are a couple I played with a couple of years ago.

Now, here they are next to their companion lanterns.
