I bought a stove out of curiosity... as one does. It was listed as a Svea 825, but although a one pint, classic brass-tank paraffin stove it looked nothing like a Svea 121. I received the stove a few weeks ago. I installed a filler cap washer, leather pump washer, cleaned the burner, gave it burner washers, and put in a new jet. I cleaned out the tank, and got it going. This stove had not been used for many, many years. What is this mystery stove? 1, There is absolutely no lettering on the tank or burner....It is however fitted with a Svea 825 flame ring. 2. It has feet like a Primus 210 or Thermidor/ RM/ Veritas. 3. It has no air release valve, instead there is a round-bottomed vertical slot in the threads of the long filler nozzle and you use the filler cap to release pressure. 4. It has a tapered thread upstand, but will not accept a Thermidor replacement. 5. There is no reserve cap 6. The pump and filler nozzle are in separate quadrants of the tank....unlike a one-pint Thermidor, where the pump and filler share the same quadrant. 7. The pump does not have a floating piston on the brass shaft. Instead the piston is fixed on the shaft and relies on simple by-pass flow on the up-stroke. 8. The legs could be a later addition, I think, but are well made. 9. It is a well manufactured, powerful stove. 10. I would guess that it is British from the 1950s or earlier. Any suggestions? Haven't a clue .... But, George , you've met me .. & that should be patently obvious . Pic 4 of 6 is the best clue ... Find a manufacture who made fill/pressure release caps & spigots like that (External slot pressure escape route) .. British ?? Its a 'Bitsa' ?? .. Bits of this ?? bits of that ?? If a tapered thread and wont take Thermador/RM, try a burner from a 210, it's alot more forgiving. I was able to put my 210 burner in the RM w/out problems, the other way? nope.
@kerophile this looks very similar to the 1½pt Falk stove I posted here. But what size is this stove? By the look of the burner/riser assembly I'm thinking this might be 1pt? Maybe a version of the Veritas 9688? Ian
Hi Ian, see second line of initial post: “although a one pint, classic brass-tank paraffin stove” This post is now almost 11 years old and I agree with you, that my mystery stove is almost certainly from the Falk Stadelmann company.
