I was in my local charity shop this afternoon,
Just a quick look, you never know a stove or two may show itself one day, but not today. I gave the bits and bobs section a bit of a mooch to find an aluminium bowl shaped thingy. it had a sticky outy bit that i thought i could remove, and use it as a spirit cup in my modified Volcano stove. I got it home to find the sticky outy bit stamped...To my surprise it read TRANGIA.

In all my years i have never seen one before, has anyone else ? Oh 50p was the price paid.

Trangia stills makes the cups. I bought a couple of them just because.

I took a closer look, your cups are an older style, the new ones are a bit taller and narrower. The new ones hold 0.3 liters.

I remember making ice lollies from something similar and having trouble getting the lolly from coming out the mould, decided to warm it up with my tongue.

Tongues stick to aluminium for quite a long time, and it hurts.

    Some things you never forget.

    I'm on the way....
another thing that hurts but unfotunately has to be repeated is drinking from enamelled mugs.

    instruments of torture

I was given an enamelled mug and plate by my parents when I was in the scouts, they should be done for child cruelty.

There is only a small window of opportunity when tea is actually drinkable in one, and it lasts about 45 seconds from being scallding hot to becoming stone cold.

Agreed! I think they were made to be thrown around the cook-house without breaking (though they do chip), and slung from a rucksack for kudos! I have one that is doing sterling service - as a cap for an engine exhaust to stop rain from entering. Anything but drinking something hot from!!
