    Hi Hal

    They are nice little stoves aren't they. Some English copies of the Swedish stoves can be a disappointment, but the 17b is not one of them. I have one in similar condition but it hasn't been lit and will stay that way, with it's useless plastic pump 'leather'.

    Go carefully Steve, these things can polish out a lot of detail on the stove, and I have heard of guys using buffing wheels which snagged on the stove and threw it to destruction :shock: :shock:

    yep - avoid the sissal mops except for removing verde gris (use brown compound). Green compound to start on stitched cotton mop then blue to finish with an unstitched calico mop.

    Or for more therapuetic sessions Autosol (put onto this at Newark - not bad at all & cheap on ebay) or Brasso as described!

    I have found i get the best shine on stove photos with Photoshop 7.0
