My lad Luke, made one from a pizza box and tin foil last year, and heated some hotdogs with it; problem is, not much bloody sun in Wales

I do like the idea and the concept of solar cooking, if I lived in a warmer country I would take a serious look at it; there are loads of designs on the web for really good looking cookers 8)

I don't understand the grossly extortionate price. A few bits of foil laminated pasteboard and a cheap wire grill, for $200.00? I've seen plans for these things using foil backed foam insulation and high temp duct tape that work every bit as well at a cost of $3.00 to $5.00 US. Cheaper, if you're at all good at scrounging.

It's similar with reflector ovens for use in front of a campfire. I use one I bought in a sporting goods store for less than $2 several decades ago. Of course that's when $2.00 was nearly an hour's labor, but still.

Rik, what's the latitude where you are? Mine is approximately 47deg 56 min N. We get enough sun here most of the year to be useful for solar heat, and some cooking.
