Koolaid works wonders on brass and copper, I used to use it on KP on the steam line, polished the pipes right up!!! Citric acid...
Finally, someone else who had KP! I'm sure there are others, they just don't want to talk about it. A buddy of mine could have used that years ago. He got himself in a spot of trouble and the for his extra duty the First Sergeant took him to the mechanical room and made him Brasso every exposed copper pipe and brass fitting in there. Well, in the Navy, technically its not KP, it's 'Mess-cooking"... It's the same thing, but you get it three months a year, until you get to E-4. Great incentive to make rank, but I ended up doing 6 months straight... The Navy doesn't hire civilians, at least on board ship... Too dangerous for them.(it's ok for us, tho! )
Not sure we have an equivalent? If so, like Zincman I've never come across it. Our staple are "squashes". These are effectively an equivalent, but are a liquid concentrate that you then dilute with water to make up a drink. Cheers, Graham.
