cheers pal, i’ll tske it out. i thought it was supposed to part of it, not a what’s left of a washer, hench getting confused haha!! bri
What a morning, high and lows, i start on the highs lol. After yesterdays epic for all yous trying to tell me that washer in the middle should be there, THE PENNY DROPPED more cleaning with all my picks (inluding our lasses tooth thingy thats never been use!!!-after that'' never get uses at all!!) So slowly clean rest of lead etc out. So i done another immersed water test, this time leaking from filler cap. For all this was a new one (and it was small mole gripped without any damage.) I thought what about the spare one & see if on top itll work. Yeahhhhh it worked perfectly, no leaks. No leaks for pump mech or lipstick. But alasme and my brain not thinking brass would be strong! i deformed the lipstick. So a bit of fuel in, Primed it. And off we went. OMG no losing pressure. All going good (still a yellow flame mentiotion in other whatsitchops) then all hell let lose, Mount Etna of fuel!!! Crapped mysel, let it cool down. Had to jet prick it as it was gummed up. TBC Bri
After looking at Deans message and pointing to #54 Ref. the orange flame & someone suggested toopig of jet. In my limited experince after threbble check everything tight etc. Personally i think the prob now is the lipstick. But goys n girls wasnt to end up in a burns wards over Christmas soooooooooooo... So i thank you from bottom of my heart, taking time, coaching me, explaining and understanding my mental & physical probs. Must of been frustating for yous, a credit to you all. You can see the OBVOUS, but ive got blinkers on & in time i get it. So after reading possible remedys i might get it back out As i always say 'Upwards & Onwards' Bri
Prime it and then light it with just a little pumping (like, one push of the pump). Let it get nice and warm before increasing the pressure, otherwise you risk sending unvapourised fuel through the jet as could be seen in your video and, I presume, in your "Mount Etna" comment. It comes down to too much pressure for the temperature so liquid fuel emerges, rather than gas. Look after your lipstick - they don't make em anymore and they are different threads to the Swedish models.
aye it’s tight slow operation i’ve noticed with the monitor. i’ll try again pal. practice makes whatsitchops! i’ll get the hand of it (only one-crap joke) Doing something at least i’m good at atm chicken Broth. hehe! catch you lata thx pal bri
Hi Bri, Congratulations! Seen the video of it running. Well done m8. Not that I always like the last word, but seeing that yellow and sooty flame reminded me that the yellow is caused by an over rich mixture. Now there are two ways to make it leaner - one we have already spoken about - peening the lipstick jet hole a little to reduce the fuel supply; but there is another - making the 'mixing chamber', where the fuel gas mixes with oxygen in the air before igniting, bigger. This can be done by bending the supports on the flame plate so that the flame plate sits a little higher off the burner bell. That would increase the distance between emerging and igniting gas, allowing it to dilute with slightly more air and thus weakening the mixture. A job for tomorrow, me thinks.
wow mate what’s that crap boot last word!! nonsense. i always thrown away with you all the knowledge tips etc. i can fettle the flame plates etc. you seen how many clamps i got hundreds more and jigs for every occasion. can you pinpoint the exact where i should bend up (a photo paint a thousand words!! don’t want to faff on with the wrong part!!! haha! thx bud bri
Yes that top plate. Looking at yr vid at 11s. in you can see the flame plate with its 4 legs bent down slightly and then bent again to hold it on the bell. Immediately where the leg supports come off the circle of the flame plate, you need to carefully bend them DOWN a bit more. That way, when the other end of those legs hook over the cut outs in the burner bell rim (you may need to open the second bends up slightly so they still hook over the bell) they will force the plate itself to be sitting higher and further from the top of the lipstick thus increasing the mix time and weakening the mixture. It might be a small difference but as the supermarket man tells us "Every Little Helps"
you can see the flame plate (1) with its 4 legs(2) bent down slightly and then bent again to hold it on the bell(3). '' ''you need to carefully bend them DOWN a bit more (4) I THINK I GET IT...............................famous last words!!!!!! what bad could happen. "Every Little Helps" Bri
Close but not quite: the bend down is the joint where the leg leaves the circle of the plate, and the bit where the legs and bend down lines are pointing is more likely to be a slight bend up! Bend downs, legs and bell (ends) just as well we can see the pictures!!
close but no cigar!! you any good on ms paint to show me? withoot a pic i’m stumped tbh lol catch you in the morn took my nite nite meds n it’ll be good night vienna soon zzzZz thank pal bri
morning all, just when i was sorting the stove (as in the flame adjustment) i found a problem on one of the legs. This is become Brian’s Devil stove. TBH, lads n lasses i feel i’ve tickered (or more like messed on with it) so best thing to do is cleaned it store it and maybe in new year i’ll descide what i’m going to do with it lol Bri
21st Dec 22. Hello guys n girls. Got my kis from Ross. First of all its the Svea 5. Apart from cleaning the parts (old washers)that need clean surface. As mentioned from Dean these next one isnt needed. So with jumping in in Number 1 im happy, is the two washers right? All going well i should have the Svea & the Parasene up n running to test lata on. Bri
Your graphic seems correct: One fibre washer above the spirit dish; one below; do up firmly, but don't over-tighten; after first or second light up, re-tighten to firm. Note that the "not needed" components are for the non-return valve (NRV) in the bottom of the pump tube. Needed if your NRV is't working properly. Cheers Tony
Thanks Tony, yeah the ‘Not Needed’ was a confo. with Dean ref. if needed a special tool. Other wise if not broken don’t fix it type of thing. slowly cleaning mating areas, assemble i’ll do a submerge water test on the Svea. got high hopes for it & the Parasene. fingers crossed. i like the bedding in tip, great one. thanks Bri
