Another Update: The wind has died down for the night, and maybe it will stay that way. I've just found out that we may have a few more visitors for our Gathering. Flivver has a friend that might drop in, and a new friend f mine contacted me to see if we were still going to have the Gathering. He would love to stop by and visit. He may bring some goodies to show and tell, and maybe a few to sell, too. Fun, all around!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc (who's still not finished gathering and packing...!)
Hi friends, I hope you all have a wonderfull weekend, and am looking forward to see the photo's! Enjoy! Wim
Hi, Wim, Thanks, very much! I've FINALLY finished packing up, and have decided I'm bringing WAY too many stoves!! Next time, I'm only bringing a dozen, or two, and that's it!! I still have to hit the grocery store, but expect to be at the campsite before Mike and his Mrs show up. We wish all our CCS Mates could snap their fingers and magically appear to share this event with us. But, you will all be there in spirit! Thanks, again, and I'll see you, and all our other Mates, next week! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Greetings, from the CA Stove Gathering!! Flivver, Laura, & Charlie (their dog), have all hit the sack. I'm soon to follow. Having a fine time! Fettled several old Coleman stove (#2,9, + others). Awoke to find a sow bear & her cub behind my tent! Mike & Laura told me the were two bears, & I thought they were joking. They weren't!! Arch & Jim arriving tomorrow, & some guests on Saturday. Tons more fettling to do!! Mike's Clayton Lambert is one of the finest stoves I've ever seen, PERIOD!! Got to run. This is from my cell phone. Wish more folks could have made it. Excellent campsite!! God Bless! Doc
Greetings, Friends, I've just arrived home, after our CA Stove Gathering #2, and I still have to unload the truck. It's packed tighter than Dick's hat band, and I'm not looking forward to carrying all those stoves, lanterns, and other goodies, back up the stairs, cleaning it, and putting it all away!! :frown: I'll post more later, as will the others that were a part of the Gathering. Plus, I have over 100 photos in my camera, waiting to be a part of the reports that will be arriving soon here at CCS. Suffice it to say, that our 2nd Gathering was ever better than our 1st!! The location was outstanding, as was our weather! The lot of us, Mike/Laura/Charlie, Arch (Mac) & Nelda; Jim Henderson, and I, had a fantastic time camping together, cooking some fun food, fettling stoves and lanterns, and doing "show and tell" for ourselves and for anyone who happened to wander by!! We even had a friend drive up from Oceanside, CA, which is quite a drive, just to spend a few hours enjoying the "stove atmosphere", then driving home again!! That is dedication, my Friends!! In any case, we all VERY much enjoyed our Gathering, and the friendship we all shared!! The Campground was really perfect, and we are already planning a Winter Gathering, for December, with all hands in attendance, already committing to this next adventure!! Talk to you all soon. Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc (dirty, very tired, but exceedingly happy with our Gathering and thankful to the wonderful folks in attendance, who really made the event the success it was!!)
Hi Doc, I'm glad you all had a good time and luck with the weather, now we're really looking forward for the photo's! Regards, Wim
HI, Wim! Thanks, very much! I'm still unloading the truck, and when I took a break to see what was shakin' at CCS, there you were! 8) Yes, we all had a wonderful time, and can hardly wait for our next Gathering. We are already in the planning stages of it, and we'll see how it goes as we get our plans more solidified. One way, or the other, we've all decided that this was just too much fun, for us not to do it more often! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc (who took WAAAAAY too many stoves and other truck to this event!! Fun looking at it all, once it was setup, but holy hell to pack, load, unload, setup, take down, pack in the truck, and now unload again and carry it all upstairs to the house!! YIKES!! )
Hi, Richard, Thanks, very much! Yep, there will be PLENTY of photos, as all of us will be offering them up for your enjoyment. I will do a little more work, with some help from fellow Mac users, before I post mine. But, post them, I WILL, once some hurdles have been overcome!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Evening, I've given up on unloading the truck, completely, and instead, changed out the headlamps in the Jeep, which needed to be done. After that, I decided to try and post a few "optimized" photos, as a teaser to those that could not make our just completed CA Stove Gathering #2! Here goes: That should whet your whistles, Friends! You'll have to wait for the rest of them, and when those photos are posted, I'll post a complete report. Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc P.S. HUGE thanks go out to our CCS Brother, Train Manny, for the fantastic buttons he sent as gifts for those who attended our Gathering!! Thank you, so very much, Manny!! You can see in the group photo, that we're all wearing our buttons!! We saved half of them, just in case someone else just happened to show up. But, when they did not arrive, we divided them up amongst ourselves, and alled it good! On the last day of the even, we each wore two buttons, one of each type!! Super cool, Manny, and thanks again for your kind and generous gift!
Evening, All, Ian, many thanks for the attendee labeling! 8) In truth, Dieder, I left out the names on purpose. Remember, this is supposed to be a "teaser", only, and so I was only whetting your appetite for more, which will soon be forthcoming, all properly labeled, and all details of our Gathering will be fully reported! Talk to you all soon, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc (who is getting ready to enjoy a pizza, and some frosty Guinness Draught! Still really tired after our Gathering, and looking forward to a good night's sleep!)
More teasers: After 6 hour drive and unloading and stowing everything away, too tired for any more pics than these. Mike...
Hey, Flivver, I'm very glad you all made it home safe and sound! Like you, I'm dead beat, and need to hit the sack. But, it's great to see a few teaser photos from you, and it just makes me wish we were still there at Dogwood Campground, enjoying all the great fun we had!! I've already talked to Sweet Bride about our possible next Gathering, and when she gets back home, we'll check our work schedule, so we can firm up our plans. I'm ready right now, even as tired as I am!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Hi Men, Great stuff! Keep the photos coming, its almost like being there. For a small gathering you sure brought a lot of stoves with ya. So what culinary delicacies did you cook up? I'm glad you like the buttons, I've got a few ideas for new ones. I finally shipped some off to Ross, for the Lads in England. Chuck, Paul (Ulysses) and I are hoping to have a mini-meet this coming weekend. There isn't anything better then hanging with CCS brothers. Cheers, Manny
