Completely unrelated to the recent thread on Whisky, I picked up this little 3oz stainless steel hip flask from our local Op Shop for the princely sum of $2!

Thought it would make a good meths tin for one of the 8r's but no matter which way I tried to use it I managed to pour meths everywhere but into the priming cup.

I tried making a little pipette using a short length of tinned car brake line (pinched from the roll that was left over from a previous brake fettle job on my 55 Kombi).

After about eight little splashes of meths transferred by holding a finger on top of the tube and releasing in the vicinity of the burner I may as well have tipped it straight out of the bottle.

Rummaged through my gasket box and found a small cork which, when skewered on a large nail, I was able to turn down to fit the flask using the bench grinder. Made a hole using a Dremel milling bit to fit the tube and voila! A slight squeeze on the flask and a little squirt of meths right where it's needed!

The spout is long enough to reach into the spirit cup but still live in the tin. Unfortunately the flask doesn't quite squeeze in there as well. I wonder if they make a 2oz size?
