Classic Primus # 41 Kerosene Stove (1952)

I had a slight leak when the stove was sitting to be used or while transporting, no pressure in tank either, but would not show while running. After a couple years of this, took the burner off and figured out the priming cup sat on the shoulder of the fuel pipe and really only needed one heatproof washer instead of the two I had on. No leak now after using just one above the priming cup. I thought I might have to index the burner to get it a little tighter so the spindle and control knob would line up.

Hmm, curious that @theyellowdog i wonder if the notch in the case was placed differently on some stoves? On mine there is no way that the control spindle would take a straight line from the burner to the case notch, it has to go across at the angle shown. From what I've seen the burners where like this one on snowgoose's example in the gallery. Which would be perfect for mine.

 

@Matthew92 My roarer is also to the left and straight. Sorry about poor photos my phones, camera lens is scratched.

But I am sure some 41 stoves had a double jointed reg handle. I recall @Spiritburner struggling with a tricky fettle on one.

 

Hiya Stove People,

I finally have a flame shot, after replacing the NRV pip, the pump cup, the fuel cap seal and two burner washers. It had a leak in the tank weld, that I managed to seal with solder. Here it is; note there is no flame control on the burner, so when the stove is shut down, kero tends to leak through the jet!
