Coleman 460G converted to kerosene

Per @presscall, in a old thread, set this up for kerosene. With more pressure this morning, running hotter than yesterday when photo was taken, even the grate got red hot today in the inner part. Need to fix a leak out of the genny tip as it sets in the end of the genny too loose.

Good show Duane. Once I get my Coleman 457G going. I might like to try kerosene in the stove. I like the safety aspect of kerosene as well.

Do you have the link to Presscall's post how he used kerosene in a 457G stove?

David, I can't find that topic, I posted on CCF the parts needed for a 460. I put my list in my parts box in the garage. Stinks like the Coleman marine stove, fire it up outside.

Odd, I don’t recall mine doing that. Blowtorch to prime, right? A lot of metal to thoroughly get up to vapourising temperature, or there’ll be yellow tinges to the flames and they’ll put out a smell.

 

Still working on sealing the genny tip, a bit of a candle flame. I did notice it takes quite a bit more preheat than even a Tilley. Lots of metal to get hot. I agree, even the burner needs to be heated good.

Hi Charlie, yes, lots of snow, not quite as much as Doc Mark.
