I am having trouble with my coleman 530 i cannot get it to hold any pressure and have cleaned and lubed the leather but still no shabang. :frown: Any tips?
If it pumps air but is not holding pressure the first thing to check/replace is the gas cap or the gasket if you have one. That is where I start -- assuming the pump rod is not being forced back. If it wants to rise on its own with your finger over the hole, then the check valve is leaking.
I agree with itchy. I would check the filler cap seal. And take out the pump and positive lock valve (air stem) Square thingy in the pump tube. Even if the check valve is leaking the air stem should stop it when closed. Give the check valve a shot of WD-40 or similar stuff to free up the ball inside. This post may help. Post Jeff
Umm, you do have the valve turned off, don't you? Try spraying it down with some soapy water (or hold it under in the sink) to see if it's leaking anywhere.
I purchased a new check valve and fuel cap for it. I installed them tonight. I can light the stove but it still wont keep the pressure. Before i could hear air leaking from the fuel cap so i was almost positive that was what it was. But now im clueless.. :frown: :frown: ..Any tips?
First me think because of the short stroke of the rod, a bit more pumping may be required if not all the air goes to the check valve. Pump it up with the spindle closed then open the tank cap slightly to see how long the hiss would last nominal 5 seconds. If it does not hiss then you really have to do a leak test of soapy water and see where the bubbles show up. That's the only way you will deyermine your leak. If no leak, then the pick up tube and burner stem is clogged. If you have a compressor, remove the jet, open the spindle all the way, remove the tank cap and blow the hell through the top and see of that will help. If you don't have a compressor, drop by your nearest auto repair shop
etspeizp, Mind i am not in business here but if you will send me your stove i will fix it for you with a detailed explination of what was done to make it work. It could be there is an air leak under one of the support legs. This is known to happen when someone replaces a leg screw with one to long. Regardless i would fix this up for the cost of shipping. lance
Lance: I also have a 530 tank with a leak caused by a replacement screw that was too long. What method would you recommend for repairing this hole ? I have considered filling the hole with brazing rod and then redrilling and tapping the new hole. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Ken H.
That would work best. If you are carefull you can fill the hole without hav'n to redrill and tap the "nut". lance
