Hello I am new on the website and I’m restoring a Model 2 stove. My brother found the stove during the time we were cleaning out our dad’s home. Dad always talked about going to California in a Model T. Jack and myself think this stove made the trip. My parents lived in Wichita at this time. I know that finding a key is practically impossible to do. I will show a picture of the one that a great friend made for me. From pictures it looks like it is cast iron. If I could get some measurements perhaps I could 3D print one or even make a mold and cast one!
Jim- You can get a 3-D print in steel, aluminum, brass, etc from Shapeways.com fairly inexpensively. All you need is a CAD file in .stl format and they take it from there. I can help with the CAD work if you need it. -Paul
Thanks Paul Because I am new to this forum I am learning how to post and send pictures! Given enough time I will finish my stove and learn how to navigate the forums. I’m sure I will keep in touch. Everyone has been extremely helpful!
If someone that has a key and would take a nice picture indicating the length, diameters I think I could come up with a drawing that perhaps you could draw in CAD and convert to a stl. format I need dimensions Thanks for your offer
I've got a photo of the key handy, but not the measurements you need. If you don't find something before Monday give me a holler. I can get you some dimensions then.
Thanks Toby, I have a good friend that is good at 3D printing and if can give him some good measurements perhaps he can make a pattern to use to recreate a key. I’m sending a picture of the key my machinist friend made that is MUCH better than pliers!
