Sadly they are insanly expensive here in Canada (35~50 CAD) per 750mL before tax,. I have access to 99% ethanol through the place I work, but that won't be a very good solution to average person.
5/gal is really good deal! I used 0.6mm drill bit, I think you made a typo but still gotta make it clear. But if you plan to run on pure Methanol for long term, you might need to use a slightly different jet hole size, ideally there are a small difference between methanol and ethanol but if you plan to run all kinds of alcohol, 0.6mm would be a decent all arounder. I didn't do any other mod on my 99 and it ran fine after I drilled the jet, so i think you wouldn't need to add anything to it. It did puke bit alcohol out during heat up but all gas after that. I'm now planning to get a silent burner on it and see if I can get it work quietly, the bigger jet hole made it burn really loud.
Ya, I think it will be similar to a 199. I don't have the mini pump kit, would be a nice little addition in the future.
Even though if you add a silence cap to the 8r , you are far from 199, it is not the same burner at all. I have a Korean silence cap that work very well on a 8r plus it is adjustable. Moreover, I like the idea to have a 8r on alcohol. Good job
Beautiful. Canada is a land of Folk Singer/Astronauts. An ancestor of mine emigrated from Toronto to Chicago to join the Union Army, influenced by Abolitionist rhetoric. He never went back. 3.78 Liters is a US Gallon. an ''Imperial Gallon'' was ~4.2L.
I'm far from being an engineer, but I would think that the existing pressure-relief valve is designed to be an emergency valve, not an operating valve. If it's releasing excess pressure during normal operation you may be asking it to do something it was never designed to do. Maybe I'm overly timid, but that would make me nervous.
Canada is a nice place to visit. Indeed, if you visit lower British Columbia, stop by Winskill Park and Winskill Aquatic Center in Tsawassen, on the Point Roberts Road about a mile north of the border. This is the site of my great-uncle Christopher Winskill's farm. My granddad, Edward F. W. Winskill was born and raised in BC, and my dad, Edward M. Winskill was born there also. They moved to the States when my dad was 7 or 8. So, as I often point out in conversations with friends, I am the son and grandson of immigrants. My wife, both of whose maternal grandparents came from Croatia, says BC doesn't count, but I beg to differ! The fun one is my paternal grandmother. She was a US citizen when she married my granddad. Back then, a woman lost her US citizenship if she married a foreign national. She used to have fun showing her 1947 US naturalization papers. Place of birth: West Point, Kentucky.
That's great story Ed. My visits in BC and Vancouver Island are memorable. I hiked the West Coast Trail. A friend's girlfriend is from Croatia. They visit there. Pictures of the area are beautiful.
WoW @snwcmpr I know The west coast Trail , I hiked it 3 times. First time off season and it was the best one. WoW! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!
