@David Must be a kiwi expression. I’ve not heard it on this side of the Tasman. We use “bachelor pad” but not in that context. Cheers Tony
@Tony Press, @David: And it depends from whence you hail - 'bach' (pronounced batch, not bark as in Bach ... ) in the North Island of NZ and 'crib' in many parts of the South Island. Yes, I agree, it does look an earlier version than yours. As I said, I could only find information from 1046 and 1947 and that stove was depicted in those years. I suppose there are two possibilities. They used an old stove in the 1946 ad or your stove is from the 50's.
