    Meths is perhaps the best fuel; here's a Kiwi classic, made in Christchurch

    Mine doesn't have the often seen side windshields, so is perhaps domestic or for the bach

    This shows how much meths was used to boil water for two cuppas

    Nice enameling on that one! Very unique. What year do you suppose it was made? Jerry

    Good stove.

    What does the expression “the bach” mean?

    Must be a kiwi expression. I’ve not heard it on this side of the Tasman. We use “bachelor pad” but not in that context.

    Cheers

    Mine's got rust in the tank. I drained and aired the tank after use

    @Tony Press, @David:
    And it depends from whence you hail - 'bach' (pronounced batch, not bark as in Bach ... :roll:) in the North Island of NZ and 'crib' in many parts of the South Island. Although the two are used commonly throughout, the term predominates as per above.

    I had a quick look and the only years I saw them advertised was 1946 and 1947

    Yes, I agree, it does look an earlier version than yours.

    As I said, I could only find information from 1046 and 1947 and that stove was depicted in those years.

    I suppose there are two possibilities. They used an old stove in the 1946 ad or your stove is from the 50's.

    I'd say that the '60's were a possibility
