    Hi all

went to a farmers barn sale...A bit like a garage sale, but bigger and much more usless junk to wade through.
I found these chaps, are they coffee pots ?
I see copper ketles being shown on stove shoots, and have thought to myself are theý okay to use.
I mean, does the copper taint the water at all ?
a daft question maybe. the pots shown here have what looks like a tin lining to them.

Yes, they're coffee pots, classic styles from Holland and Belgium I think. Do they have internal chambers with screens? Usually can-shaped and they drop in and carry the coffee grounds and can be removed after the water has run through?
Otherwise they may be chocolate pots.

Hi Andrew, generally speaking all copper pots and pans intended for cooking purposes are tinned when new and then re-tinned as necessary.
It is not advisable to use un-tinned copper or brass ware as you get discolouration of the pot and a nasty metallic taint to the food or liquid.
I reckon your purchases are coffee/hot milk pots....very nice!

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

Nice pots! I have been looking for an ibrik for quite awhile. Ever since I started looking, they don't seem to show up in the shops like they used to!
