I promised a few weeks ago to post some pics of my Esbit stoves and mug, so here goes:

I like this little one very much; as the gentleman from Roslev has done, I drilled out the little solid-fuel pan rivet and added holes to the bottom of the burner base - I use a 'half-penny' meths burner and a windscreen to achieve a fast 12 oz boil, and the burner, fuel, lighter, priming pan, and windscreen all fit inside:

This stove's aluminum and finish exactly matches the US$25 Coleman Exponent Solo cookset, found locally at Wally World (or various places online); setup is easy:

I really looked forward to getting the other cookset, but in reality it has been somewhat disappointing; although it works perfectly, and has a unique simmer ring handle and solid fuel table platform, the aluminum is thin, not really 'hard' anodized (even though it looks like it), and came with a number of dents, apparently right from the factory:

Of the two stoves, I use the smaller one quite a bit, either off the bicycle or when hiking with a small Mountainsmith lumbar pack.

Looks good with the fuel options  Then again, thats only for warming up a cuppa joe and small stuff. Can't beat being light and portable in that area.

    Hello Will

Thanks for the "gentleman" reference, but i am far from that !! :)

I too really like the Esbit cookset, but not keen at all on the fuel tablet choice. It is a fantastic little setup now, after making the modifications to the base, adding a micro Redbull burner along with a cutdown MSR windscreen, its one of my best grab and go brew up kits !

    hey!

what, no mention of the beer towel? and i put it in the pics just for you!

yep, i like the little Esbit just fine - it has seen much use since i acquired it last year... unfortunately, one *must* use a windscreen with it, but the rolled aluminum weighs very little (i use double-folded strips cut from oven liners)

the Esbit mug was an impulse buy - interesting that the handle neither folds, nor is there a hole for a lanyard [must get out the drill sometime and put one in]
