This Enders ‘Cobold’ alcohol burner was likely manufactured from the mid-1950’s to mid-1960’s. The only other example in the SRG is the one posted by Iani in 2013. @Knee ’s superb Enders catalogue posting (5th photo/left hand page) shows a likely earlier version of the ‘Cobold’ No.9091, with the adjacent No.9093 model using the same design triple leg support as on my ‘Cobald’ model and Iani’s, but with a different design (screw-top) alcohol burner. The penned price label on the burner lid and corresponding price written in pencil on the box shows a cost of 3 Deutsche Marks and 15 Pfennigs. With the ‘Triple Legs’ support in the ‘closed’ position - is there a gentle nod to the ‘E’nders logo perhaps? Triple legs support opened up. The burner is held snugly into the support legs. Burner lid and riveted handle. Burner lid handle ‘stamping’ on the reverse side. Burner and inner (alcohol) aperture. Burner base. The box details user instructions in three languages: German, English and French - and so an export model for those two markets. What is interesting is that on the front of my box, the Enders model number has been mis-printed as ‘No.9901’. Iani‘s box however shows the correct model number ‘No.9091’. Looks as if the printers were not having a good day when my box was printed…’STOWE’ …same misspelling on Iani’s box as well. Interesting branding choice of using ’Etna’ for the French export market instead of the ‘E’nders logo, as in the above picture for the local German market. Pharael.
