Hello all you burners of liquid fuel!

Since I bought a Jobo-Origo Heat-Pal I have had some thoughts about alcohol as fuel...

Earlier I have only used 'T-r?d' which is ethanol, and I have tried something called "Tenol" which is a mixture of >75% Ethanol,

Risks are none (I hope) here in Holland spirit is only available mixed with methanol (to discourage hard core drinkers) and as such is used frequently in any spiritburner.

Ok, I just wonder, since that mixture is not really hard to get, but more difficult than denaturated ethanol anyway. AND it is more expensive!
Now I bought 5 litres of methanol for 189 swedish kronor, and that is about 21 euros/5 litres, with would give about 4 euros/litre!

The denaturated ethanol is about 4-5 euros for a litre.
The Tenol mixture (denaturated 1:8 mixture of methanol:ethanol) was about 6-7 euros for a litre..
(Could be that that place were more expensive than other, but that place were the only one I found at that night, that sold the Tenol...)

    Hello !
Here, in Belgium, Methanol OR Methylated Ethanol costs 1,5 euros/litre.
I prefer Methanol, odourless (but toxic)... Methylated alcohol (Ethanol + Methanol) smells too much to Brandy ! But it burns well, too.
    You can find both everywhere...

Liquid fuel will not burn. It has to be vaperised first.
It is only the vapers that will ignite.
Most people make this misstake because liquid goes in the tank.

If anyone has some of the old-fashioned fluid that used to be used in spirit duplicating machines, eg. 'Banda', it can be used in alcohol burners. I've used it and it works fine, but leaves a very small amount of liquid residue. I'm also using it for priming parrafin and petrol stoves.
