    Hello all,

About half a year ago I recieved a Burmos 21 from my girl friend her mother, that she had found in a second hand shop. She remembered that I like camping stoves, so she brought it with her one day and gave it to me.

The stove looked sound to me, but had it's well known defekts. A defunct NRV and rockhard filler cap gasket.

Filler cap gasket wasn't such a big deal, the defunct NRV on the other hand was a different problem. I tried to take it out with a NRV key that came with my Dutch milspec Geniol stove.

Next wednesday, the mother of my girlfriend has her birthday on the local camping site, so I figured it would be fun to brew her a cuppa on the stove she gave me.

After trying to remove the NRV a second time, my colleage wanted to give it a try(I brought the stoev with me to work) and damaged the NRV. Now it was impossible to remove the NRV the conventional way.

After reading the exceptional well threads from Chickenthief and Bom Bom Bom Bom(which also should be in the master fettling section if you ask me) I decided to go ahead and try do de-solder the pump tube.

The said pump tube, still in it's place.

After some carefull heating up with the next blowlamp on it's lowest setting.

After some fiddling I got the tube out, but I still couldn't get the NRV out.(As you can see by the marks made by the plyers I used) I decided to leave it in place and service it like this.

After replacing the NRV pip, I cleaned the tube and the hole in the tank(Of which I forgot to take pictures) and soldered the tube back in place.

And after testing it in a bucket of water:

    I put it back together:

And fired the critter up(See next post)

I have to admit that, although it needs some cleaning up, I feel a bit of pride, that I gotten this to work, this short before wednesday and that I got it in 1 try.

I have to thank you guys here on CCS though, because without the excelent posts here I don't think I would have been able to fettle this baby back up.

All it needs now is a correct jet, because I think that the current jet is to big, but it'll do for now.

Thank you for reading my post and I hope this inspires others to go ahead and try to do the same. Just read the wonderfull posts here on CCS and I am sure that anyone can do this. If I can, anyone can!

    regards,

    Arjan.

I have come over a NRV that was so stuck that when the pump tube was unsoldered and i tried to remove it, it broke off in the hole. I had to redrill and rethread the NRV hole. (5/16-36TPI)
I suspect that this happens when the NRV is screwed directly into the pump tube, and the brass oxidises/fuses together over time.

Hi Arjan, Good stove, great fettle!
You have a powerful flame pattern so I reckon your jet is OK as it is.
    Enjoy your picnic.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    Hi Arjan,

Excellent work done. Congrats for your success.
BTW I like burmos 21 stoves and have one too.
Dont forget to show the stove once again, after you clean and polish. A closer look at the soldering area may be of interest..

    Hi Arjan,

Looks like a good job well executed to me. I agree with Kerophile in that I don't think there's anything wrong with your burner/flame.

    Well done!

    Cheers, Graham.
